Words by Mason Buettner.

I noticed something different about Ben early on in our friendship. He has this certain energy that just emits good times and draws people in. He is always surrounded by a great group of friends. I was thrilled when Ben asked me to write this biography for him. He has worked hard to get where he is and I’m excited to see what the future holds for him.

Ben is a Whistler transplant from Calgary, Alberta. Growing up on the doorstep of the Canadian Rockies, he was introduced to snowboarding at a young age.  Being strongly influenced by the culture of snowboarding, it was a natural progression for Ben to get his hands on a camera and document his own perspective of the sport.  He bought his first video camera when he was seventeen. Unknowingly at the time, it was a decision that would leave a permanent mark on his life.

Over the years Ben has been able to participate in various film competitions ranging from the 72 Hour Filmmakers Showdown at the World Ski and Snowboard Festival in Whistler to Quiksilver’s Showdown Over the City Filmmakers Challenge at Grouse Mountain where his team took first place. These contests ignite Ben’s creativity where efficiency, endurance, and talent are needed to come out on top.

During the summer of 2012 Ben joined up with John and Eric Jackson as a editor/Filmer for Red Bull’s Brothers on the Run series. Ben traveled from Los Angeles to Chile over the course of four months with the brothers. The trip was a milestone in his life and is something he’s looking to build off of.

Fueled by the desire to progress his creativity, Ben is a perfectionist in his trade and never content. At the heart of his artistic vision lies the passion that he has for the sport itself. This is the journey of Ben Webb.
